James "Jim" Percy Daye

Daye, James “Jim” Percy – 61, Bible Hill passed away unexpectedly, February 24, 2015 at home. Born in Truro, he was the eldest son of Mary (Harrington) and the late Percy Daye. Jim was a lifelong truck driver for Thompson’s Transfer, Gerald Battist Trucking and a very proud MBW Courier tractor-trailer driver. He was an avid card player, especially 45’s and crib. He was a very loving and supportive husband, father and mentor. Besides his mother, he is survived by spouse, Verna Cox and her sons, Donald (Lisa) Cox, Darren (Beth Hayman) Cox both of Bible Hill; sisters, Velma (Allen) Tattrie, Rosemary Daye (Doran), Virginia Simpson (Bill), Dawn (Sam) Rafuse, Donna (David) Hunter; brothers, Clarence “Bucky” (Janie), Robert (Shelley); several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his cats, “Sister” and “Mona”. He was predeceased by his father. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28th from 6-8 pm with a memorial service on Sunday, March 1st at 6:30 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Scott Penner and Rev. John Parsons officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester SPCA or a charity of choice.
