PAULIN, SYLVIO
The death of Sylvio Paulin, loving husband of Marguerite (Cormier) Paulin of Millidgeville, occurred after a brief illness at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Friday, February 27, 2015. Sylvio was born on September 16, 1924 in Caraquet a son of the late Henri and Euphenie (Boudreau) Paulin.

Sylvio throughout his life was a proud veteran of his Military Service during World War II. He was a gunner with the 14th Field Regiment of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division that landed on Juno Beach during the Invasion of Normandy of D Day – June 6, 1944. From Normandy, he advanced with the 3rd Division through Northern France on to Holland and eventually into Germany until the end of the war. He remained in service for a short period of time afterwards during the Occupation of Germany. Although sometimes reserved in discussing his service, he often shared stories with his sons & family who will forever cherish these war time memories, and was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Sylvio retired from WorkSafeNB after 30+ years of service and volunteered on several boards throughout his retirement.

He was predeceased by two brothers Helidore and Adrien, three sisters; Alexandra, May and Adrienne. Sylvio is survived by his loving wife, three sons, George (Ruth), Robert (Lynn), Paul (Helene), two daughters Norma (Gary) and Glenda (Daniel) and one brother Therance, and five cherished granddaughters; Christina, Margaret, Heather, Lily and Katy one great-grandson Dawson.

He will be sadly missed by his family.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Although there will be no visitation, a Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 7 pm at Brenan’s Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 9 am from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Spring.
