Retvedt: Elinor Cora Retvedt, age 86, of Swift Current, SK, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 from First United Church with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The pianist was Sharon Veer. Special Music was performed by Harold Gerbrandt, Kelly Neufeld and Elaine Driedger. Life Tribute was presented by Caron Johnston, Jacquie Ferguson and Mervin Tippe. The Ushers were Brett Dahl, Jonathan Sather, Alice McConnell and Penny Miyashiro. The Pallbearers were Bob McConnell, Keith Miyashiro, Jeff Milligan, Jeff Sather, Peter Sather and Murray Tippe. The Interment Service will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK at a later date. Elinor is survived by her daughter Judy Sather and Wendy (Richard) Reimer; her sons Larry (Deanna), Kim (Shelley) and Raymond; grandchildren; Ryan, Craig and Ian Retvedt, Alisa (Brad) Meyer; Jeff Sather, Jon (Tina) Sather, Brett Dahl, and Kristine Rothwell; great grandchildren; Dani Meyer, Aynslee and Maverick Sather and Drayton Dahl; sisters; Val Goodfellow, Jacquie (Lloyd) Ferguson, Carol (Bob) Johnston and Joan Smudy and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard Retvedt; daughter Debbie Dahl; son in law Barry Sather; parents William John and Laura Baxter and brothers-in-law Les Goodfellow and Clarence Smudy. Elinor was born in Swift Current SK on August 1, 1928. She was the second daughter of the five girls born to Jack and Laura Baxter. Elinor attended school in Regina from grade 1 to 5 and after moving to Swift Current, she finished her elementary classes at Central School and then S.C.C.I. for her high school. During these years, sports took up her time. She was on the Christie Grants baseball team which won the Saskatchewan Championship in 1945. The team was inducted into the Swift Current Hall of Fame in 1992. She also loved to bowl and had many trophies to show for it. Her work years start at McBrides grocery store and the Metropolitan Department store. Elinor married Leonard Retvedt on November 28, 1947 in Swift Current and they had six children, three girls and three boys. After the children were grown up she went back to work at Wiskar Jewelers, sewing drapes in her home and she drove the ambulance at Frontier Day Rodeo's. In 1982 she opened May and Elinor's Ladies Wear with her lifelong friend May Leier, operating it for 14 years. Music was a big part of her life, she played organ, guitar, the ukulele and was a member of the Grace United Church Choir. Elinor also enjoyed Bronco Hockey games as a member of the Hockey Hounds, Saskatchewan Roughrider games. She loved to knit and crocheting until her eyes got too bad during her radiation treatment and made sweaters and Afghans for all of her family. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden with her little dog Maggie. Elinor will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the C.N.I.B. or the Regina Cancer Patient's Lodge. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
