Robert Zinck

Born: December 10th, 1957

FREDERICTON, NB / LINACY – Robert Dorance “Pope” Zinck, 57, Fredericton, New Brunswick, formerly of Linacy, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2015 in Broward Health Centre, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., following a hemorrhagic stroke, held by his wife and children.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the eldest son of Dorance Campbell and Joan Freda (Gay) Zinck, Linacy.
Robert was the president of R. & D. Zinck Holdings Ltd., known as Olympian Slipform, a company which specialized in concrete construction. He was a member of the Fredericton Northwest Construction Association. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR fan, attending many Sprint Cup races each year. Robert enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with his dog, Jimmy. He was a “people person” who always left an impression. Robert possessed a tremendous work ethic and often commented, “there’s not enough days in the week”. Becoming a grandfather brought Robert great joy, time stopped when he was with his grandchildren. A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and “boss”. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Surviving besides his parents, Dorance and Joan, are his wife and best friend of over 36 years, Debbie (McDonald); sons, Ryan (Jennifer) and their daughter, Addison, Fredericton; Tyler (Christie) and their children, Parker, Hailey and Cash, Fredericton; daughter, Maggie, at home; sister, Darlene (Fraser) Kirwan, Linacy; sister-in-law, Diane Tibbo, Linacy; father and mother in-law, Grant and Barb McDonald, Linacy; “Nanny Lew”, Doris Lewis, Linacy; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his son, Nicholas in infancy; brothers, Ronnie and Eric; sister, Dawn; nephew, Fraser David Kirwan.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. this evening and 1-2 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Carl Brewer presiding.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society or Pictou County Food Bank.
