Donald “Robert” Robinson, age 76, of Riverton, passed away March 24, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late James Ansel and Mary B. (Noel) Robinson.
Robert has been a resident of Riverton since 2002. He worked for many years as a boilermaker and was a member of the Boilermakers Union. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Pictou, but most recently Branch No. 28 in Stellarton. Robert was a well known wood carver who had the ability to build ships in bottles and carve many different things by hand.
He is survived by his wife Alice (MacMillan) (Cormier) Robinson, Riverton; daughter Donna Robinson, New Glasgow; daughter-in-law Laurie Gillis, Pictou; three grandchildren: Michael, Colby and Lacey; brother Allison, Pictou; sisters, Belle Crawford, Pictou; Beverly Johanson, Pictou; step-children: Fred (Charlene) Cormier, New Glasgow; Gail Cormier, Calgary; Michelle MacDougall (Scott MacEachern), New Glasgow; Elizabeth Cormier (Junior Ryan), Westville; step-grandchildren: Colin, Aimee, Emilie, Jasmine Cormier, Amber Cormier-Greene, Jessica and Breanna MacEachern.
He was predeceased by his former wife Marjorie, son Robert “Robbie” Robinson, brother James, sister Mary Louise Robinson and step-father Nils Johanson.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in St. Paul’s United Church, Westville with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
