Helena Frances Johnson

JOHNSON, Helena Frances – 76, Truro, formerly of Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born September 2, 1938, in Lakeview, Kings County, she was a twin daughter of the late Calvin and Annie (Lohnes) Johnson. She resided in the Kentville area for over 50 years and was employed as a cook and also resided in Brockville, ON where she continued to raise her three children. Some of her loves were family, cats, dogs, dancing, sewing, country music, floral arranging, flea marketing, traveling and decorating. In the 1960s, she made many care scrap books to spread Christmas cheer to the children at the IWK. She was also an active member of Baxter’s Harbour Pentecostal Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 Truro Ladies Auxiliary. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Helena is survived by a daughter, Debbie (McCulley) Seeton (Clyde); son, Timothy Day (Lisa); grandchildren, Tanya, Shannon, Stephanie, Jason; great grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Eli, Aspyn, Aliah, all of Truro;
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Steven McCulley; sisters, Florence (Vernon) Joudrey, Rachel (Nathan) McCulley, Helen Johnson, Marie (Guy) Hiltz; brother, Wilson Johnson.
A private celebration of her life and interment will take place at a later date. If so desired, donations in memory of Helena to a local animal shelter are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Mom will be sadly missed and will always be cherished as a loving mother.
