Jeannie Piovesan

Born In: Iserlohn Germany

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: March 30th, 2015

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, partner and Aunt Jeannie on Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a lengthy illness.
Jeannie was born in Iserlohn, Germany while her father was stationed there with the Canadian Armed Forces, a birth right she was very proud of!
She graduated from Breton Education Centre and the Nova Scotia Teachers College, where she studied Early Childhood Development. Following graduation, she went to work and later, became co-owner of Tots and Toddlers Day Care as a preschool teacher for over 20 years, until she became ill. Jeannie chose this path in life because she absolutely adored children and was a huge advocate of the proper care and development of all children.
She is survived by her mother, Joan (Currie) Piovesan, New Waterford; her partner, Patrick MacKinnon, Sydney; twin brother, Gerry 'Jed' (Denise Mason), New Waterford; three sisters, Debbie (Jim) Duguid, Kingston, N.S., Rose (John) Gillis, Windsor, Ont. and Darlene (Paul) LeMoine, New Waterford; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Kyle, Nicole, Michelle, Cheryl, Gerralynn, Kyle and Jessica; grandnieces and nephews, Mark, Kevin, Destiny, Riley and McKinley; Pat’s children, Anthony, Mary and Shauna; and her beloved precious fur babies, who meant the world to her, Jenny, Tiffany and Jillian Jiggs, who recently passed.
Jeannie was predeceased by her father, Feruccio 'Sarge' Piovesan (1997); brother, Johnnie (1978), paternal grandparents, Joseph and Rosina (Tonellato) Piovesan and maternal grandparents, Guy and Sara Margaret (Saccary) Currie.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday 11 a.m., with Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice.
Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or email sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
