Passed in: New Waterford
Passed on: March 31st, 2015

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of an incredible and simply irreplaceable human being, our beloved Layton Kearney on March 31, 2015, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Our lives have been forever changed.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Layton) Kearney.
A most adored husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend, Layton Kearney was an angel among us. He was a wonderful person, someone who was incredibly kind and gentle. He was a man whose compassion translated to everyone he touched. Layton was an inspiration to all who knew and cared for him most, especially his loved ones. He cared for all including strangers and touched everyone he met with a warm sense of humour and an unprecedented sense of gratitude. Despite his health struggles, his focus and main concern always remained for his family and his beloved wife, Tina. He was a true old soul, a kind man and a most adored spirit. Words cannot express how he will be missed. His presence is irreplaceable. As our hearts ache for such a tremendous loss our souls are comforted in knowing that Layton Kearney is now amongst his fellow angels where he belongs. We love and will remember him always.
Layton was a confirmed movie buff who enjoyed the mystery genre above all. He also loved talk shows and Mass for Shut-Ins. One of Layton’s most notable traits was his ability to listen, especially when it concerned his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife Tina (Hurley); sons, Billy (Michelle), Layton (Samantha), both of New Waterford, Jerry (Erinn), Sydney; brother Jay (Lythia), New Victoria; sisters, Cornelia (Ibro), Montreal, Margaret Ann (Donald), New Waterford; grandchildren, Haley and Mitchell; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Layton was predeceased by a daughter Alana, sister, Marie Therese, brother-in-law, Henry, sister-in-law, Diane.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, where a private funeral service for family and close friends will be held.
Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
