It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of John McCann (formally of Felix Cove, NL) announce his passing at Brampton Civic Hospital, ON April 13 2015 at the age of 86 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend of 64 years, Cecelia, his children Danny (Mary), Port au Port NL, Dianne (Roland), Edmonton AB, Ruth, Caledon ON, Shirley (John), Fort McMurray, AB, Joey (Gayle), Fort McMurray, AB, Doreen (Alan) Brampton, ON, Agnes (Gord), Stephenville NL, Patsy (Steve), Brampton, ON, Terry (Leanne), Acton, ON, Greg (Bonita) Brampton ON, 10 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren, brothers Peter, Bill, Edward, Ben and a large circle of family and good friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jeremiah and Agnes, infant daughter Bernadette, sisters Bride, Nell, Anne, Betty and brothers Pad, Dan, Dennis, Phil and Jim. John was born in Gull Island, Conception Bay, NL, and at the age of 17 travelled by train to Stephenville NL to work at Ernest Harmon Air Force Base until it closed in 1966. He was a successful businessman for 35 years, a community leader involved in the first Our Lady of Mercy Parish Council, Port au Port, West, school board, hockey, politics, and worked tirelessly to make his community a better place to live. Cremation has already taken place. A service will be held in the summer of 2015, details to follow.
