Marguerite (Gladys) Robertson

Born In: Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
Born: September 18th, 1929

Passed in: Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada
Passed on: April 18th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved mother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, step-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, Gladys Robertson, passed away in the late evening on April 18, 2015 in Lloydminster Hospital. Gladys is predeceased by her mother and father, Rosabelle and Ted Hylland, and her brother, Terry Hylland. Gladys grew up in the town of Portreeve, Saskatchewan. As a young girl she was a talented pianist and vocalist who loved nothing better than to perform at dances in the surrounding towns. She, and her beloved sister Yvonne, played many tricks on their parents and ‘baby brother’ Terry and remained life-long friends and confidents. After high school graduation, Gladys’ adventurous spirit took her to the city of Regina where she worked in the General Hospital. She married Adam Debert, and later had two children, Rhonda and Douglas. Her children were her focus and she gave unreservedly to them. Their success was all that was important to her. Swift Current was her home for many years, and was where she worked in the Young Medical Clinic and dedicated her time to volunteering in her church, St. Michael’s. Gladys had a ready laugh, loved to have coffee with friends, and adored her Blue Jay baseball and Saskatchewan Roughrider football games. All life was suspended during ‘the games’. She loved her granddaughters, Ainsley, Merissa and Tiffany intensely, and followed their lives with such pride. She opened her heart with ease to her step-grandchildren, Anders, Jessica and Taylor, and welcomed them into her life, appreciating their significant gifts. Gladys loved dearly her son-in-law Dwight, and daughter-in-law Brenda. She was so very proud of them both. Her sister-in-law Lillian, her niece Deanna, and husband Matt, and their children Fischer and Kinleigh, were such a large part of her life as well. Her nephews, Trevor and Tim, were miles away living their lives but very near in her heart. Gladys leaves a legacy of ferocious love and giving to others. The family wishes to express such gratitude to Gladys’ friends for their ongoing and supportive connection, and to Dr. Abdulla and the medical staff of the 3rd floor of Lloydminster Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral arrangements are being made through Warren’s Funeral Home in Swift Current.
