On April 16, 2015 we said good-bye to a special man, Alonzo Lewis Jennings. Born in Moreton’s Hr on Aug. 17, 1941 to William and Alette Jennings, he grew up in Moreton’s Hr. and moved to Toronto to live with his mother when he was 17 years old. The joy of life was evident by his continued smile and joking disposition. He built a boat for fishing and loved to hunt deer and moose in Ontario. He drove a tractor trailer thousands of miles through Canada and the United States. When he was ready to give up that he became a carpenter making fine furniture and jewelry boxes. He made 200 jewelry boxes for a merchant in Ohio, US, cabinets and deacon benches all sizes. Alonzo made many friends from Canada to the US to England through the internet. As we travel the road of life we meet with unexpected hardships. Alonzo lost his younger brother Barry in 1972, also his father in later years. When people close to us die we come face to face with our own mortality. Alonzo married Doris Feltham of Terra Nova. They had one son Michael and a granddaughter Nichole. We pause for a moment in the journey of life to mourn this dear man, also to give thanks for a beautiful life, cut short too soon.
Mother Alette Jennings Budgell
