John Thomas 'Tom' Gallagher
John Thomas Gallaher, 72, of 5 Kji’saqmaw Court, Membertou, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Elmer N. and Marjorie E. (Henderson) Gallaher.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Mission Church, Membertou. Tom served with the Canadian Navy for a short period of time and then worked for a number of years in Toronto at various jobs, retiring in 2009 after a lengthy career driving transport trucks. Tom was a yearly pilgrim in the St. Anne De Beaupre mission for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Mary Anne Stevens; brothers, Richard and Brian (Mary T.) both of Ontario; sister-in-law Viola Christmas, Membertou; nephews, Steve and Dan and nieces, Nicole, Kylie, Linda, Sheila, Delores, Jane, Dorothy and Donna. He was predeceased by sister-in-law Carolyn, brothers-in-law, Ben Stevens and Gus Christmas and a nephew, Moe Christmas.
Visitation will take place of Tuesday, April 28 from 2-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Marguerite Bourgeois Church with Rev.
