Gordon Ernest (Ernie) Mayhue

Mayhue, Gordon Ernest (Ernie) in his 93rd year. Formerly of Truro, NS and Ottawa, Ont., passed away peacefully in New Glasgow Nova Scotia on Friday, May 1, 2015. He was born July 14, 1922 to the late Justus and Rose (Stevens) in Toronto Ontario. Ernie served his country in WW2 in England and Germany, upon his return to Canada he attended Bible College in Victoria, BC and then transferred to Toronto to complete school where he met Marion Kean. He and Marion were married in Ottawa in 1949 and moved to Ottawa in 1954 where he worked for Shell Canada until retirement in 1987. They went camping and travelling across Canada, US and over to Europe in 1976. It was on a vacation they came to Truro to visit Dear Friends and decided this was to be their retirement town. They moved to Truro in 1988, and even after Marion passed away in 1990, Ernie made the decision to stay. He met Mildred Taylor and they were married in 1991. God gave them 22 wonderful years together until she passed in 2013. No matter where he lived Ernie was very active in his local Pentecostal Church, wearing many hats; Sunday School Bus driver, Superintendent, Member of the Board, Social Committees, many friends and young people who called him "Uncle Ernie" Beloved father of Larry (Susan) of Whitby, ON; Sharon Moore (Jonathan) of Napanee, ON; Brenda Gravelle of Cleveland, Ohio. Cherished step-father of Marilyn Hutt (Lee) and Glenn Taylor (Lyndie) both of Truro NS. Grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren in Canada and US. Ernie is survived by his brother J. Russell Mayhue (Louise) in Roanoke Virginia, and Marion's and Mildred's extended families, many nieces, nephews and so many Dear Friends. Visitation will be held today (Tuesday) May 5, from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm, followed by funeral service at 2 pm all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro NS, with Pastor Michael Aud officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Internment will be at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Nepean, Ontario, 2 pm Friday, May 8, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pentecostal Assembly of Canada Missions or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
