Irene Taylor

Irene Janet Taylor, age 85, of Pambrun, SK passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 5:00 pm from the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Irene was born on May 1, 1930 at Vanguard, SK to Andrew & Edna Tonjum. She married Donald Taylor on June 30, 1952 and farmed together west of Vanguard until the fall of 1997, when they retired and moved into Pambrun, SK. Irene enjoyed music and often sang along with her husband at church and various functions. Her hobbies were knitting, reading, doing puzzles and gardening. She was an avid sport's fan and kept up with the latest electronic gadgets. She taught Sunday School for several years. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren. Mom had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Irene was predeceased by her father, Andrew; her mother, Edna Tonjum; and by her husband, Donald Taylor. She is survived by her son, Larry (Shari) Taylor; grandchildren, Jason, Ashleah (Justin) Elias and Andrew (Laurel); her daughter, Dawn (Oscar) Sands; grandchildren, Dallace (Kyle) and Brittany; and by her nieces and nephews, Myrna (Pete) Hermann, Robert (Phyllis) Taylor, David Taylor, Linda Taylor and Melvin Taylor.
The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 3:30 pm from the Pollard Art Centre, Pambrun, SK with Phil Ruten officiating. The pianists for the service were Ruth-Anne Dyck and Dawn Sands with Ed Johnson as the Service Leader. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “He Hideth My Soul” were sung by the congregation. The eulogy was shared by Myrna Hermann – Irene’s niece. Special music was brought by Dawn Sands and Ruth-Anne Dyck singing, “I’m Finally Home Now”. The ushers for the service were Kelvin Thiessen and Alan Barbier. Honorary pallbearers were “All of Irene’s Grandchildren”. The Interment was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Tracy Gader, Mark Heebner, Duane Johnston, Gerry Johnston, Rodney Gamble and Pete Hermann. In memory of Irene Taylor, donations made to the Gideons International would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
