LeBLANC, Joseph – age 90, Villa St-Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Sluice Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the Villa. One of 18 children, he was born September 11, 1924 in Abram’s River, a son of the late Paul Israel and Adesse Rosalie (Amirault) LeBlanc. Joe was a chef, having worked aboard scallop boats and at Villa St-Joseph. He was also part owner of the Riverside Restaurant in Tusket, having also worked at Cosmos Imperial Mills in Yarmouth and in the construction industry. Cooking was not just a job for Joe, it was his passion. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club. He is survived by his children, Alphonse LeBlanc, Amirault’s Hill; Sylvia (Wolfgang) Panschow, Mississauga, ON; Norman LeBlanc, Wetaskiwin, AB; Elaine (Raymond) Surette, Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau; Arthur LeBlanc (Donna Gaudet), Sluice Point; Paul LeBlanc, Wetaskiwin, AB; Rosalie LeBlanc (Patrick Burrell), Wellington; Florence LeBlanc (Dwayne Thibault), Beaver River; Christina (William) Muise, Sluice Point; Edna (Chad) Schloss, Fort McMurray, AB, as well as by 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Yvonne E. (Surette) LeBlanc; an infant daughter, Isabelle; a daughter, Doris LeBlanc and a grandson, Stefan Surette, as well as by all of his brothers and sisters. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H. M. Huskilson Funeral Home, Yarmouth. The funeral mass took place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
