Abram, John (Johnie) Jellicoe - Passed away on May 12, 2015 in Waterloo, Ontario at the age of 95. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on November 15, 1919 to the late Marie Abraham (Locke) and John Annette. He was adopted at the age of 8 by Christy Ann Morrison in Lower St. Esprit, Cape Breton. Predeceased by his wives Christene (MacLeod) and Annie (Rasmussen), two half-sisters, Agnes and Ivy who were lost in the Halifax Explosion of 1917, half-brother Maurice Abraham and step-brothers Dan Alex and John D. Morrison. Although Johnie had no children of his own in his heart he adopted 10 step-children and was fondly known as Grampa Johnie to their children. Johnie was ever marked by his experiences while serving his country as a Trooper in the 8th Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment, 2nd Division, or 8th Recce, during WWII. He proudly served in Europe from 1943 to 1946. With his return to Canada he worked in Hamilton, Ontario until his retirement from the City of Hamilton in 1980. Christene and Johnie retired to Stirling, Cape Breton, she passed in 2001. He moved to Stellarton, NS in 2004 with his marriage to Annie who too quickly passed in 2006. He lived independently until the fall of 2014 when he returned to Ontario. Johnie was a life-long student of Gaelic and loved to share in the language. Cremation has taken place and his remains will be returned to his beloved Framboise, Cape Breton. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Gus am bris an là.
