It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard ‘Peter’ Prosper Sr., 59 of Eskasoni on May 24, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney he was the son of Bessie (Stevens) Prosper of Eskasoni and the late Wilfred J. Prosper.
Peter was a great animated storyteller, who captivated his audience with his positive and humorous stories. Peter had a passion for music and an outstanding musical ability; there wasn’t an instrument that he couldn’t play. He loved his family and friends and took pride in all of his children’s accomplishments. He had many talents a jack of all trades. He had a great love of the outdoors. Peter was also an avid eight ball pool player.
He will be missed by his loving wife, Shirley (Nicholas); daughter, Lyndsey; son, Bernard Jr. ‘B.J.’; sisters, Linda Battiste, Regina (Gerard) Johnson, Stella (Steve) Fraser, Vivian (Allan) Jeddore, Ramona (Lloyd) Gould, Rita (Billy) Gould, Norma (Maurice) Denny, Mary (George) Paul, and Helen (Jay) Stevens; brothers, Kenny, Wilfred Jr. (Laura), Raymond (Valerie), Floyd (Dawna) and Anthony; godparents, Leonard Paul and Mary Ellen Googoo; godchildren, Lynn Lafford, Sasha Bernard and Vincent Joe Jr.; many nieces and nephews and a man’s best friend, Buddy
Peter was predeceased by nephews, Jaret Johnson, Connor Fraser and baby, Wilfred Prosper.
Visitation for the late Peter Prosper will begin on Sunday, May 31 after 7 p.m. at his residence 4792 Shore Rd., Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2nd at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni, Rev. Martin MacDougall will officiate. Interment in the parish cemetery.
