Rose Sullivan

Rose Freda Sullivan passed away peacefully on May 22, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Mom was born on February 10, 1921, and spent her early years on the family farm near Spring Valley, SK. Upon graduation from high school, she went on to Normal School and obtained her Teachers Certificate. She started her teaching career in a one room school before marrying our Dad, Donald Sullivan in October, 1948. They farmed near Dunkirk, SK. She later returned to teaching which eventually led to the position she was passionate about which was teaching Home Economics at Mossbank High School, until her retirement in 1980. Mom and Dad moved to Moose Jaw after retiring. She relocated to Saskatoon in 2008, where she lived until her passing. Mom was creative and artistic. She decorated wedding cakes for her children and grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed painting with oils and water colours, ceramics, modeling and painting clay, creating and decorating Christmas wreaths and other crafts. Whatever she created, the results were always beautiful and of professional quality. She was a member of The Order Of Royal Purple of Canada #299 in Mossbank and served as the Historian for several years. She gave freely of her time and talent to many community activities, creating scenery and costumes for school concerts, setting up displays at the Moose Jaw fair, creating scenery and displays for Saskatoon Folkfest Irish Pavilion and the Willow Bunch Museum, to name a few. In addition to her artistic talents she enjoyed many other interests and activities such as, bowling, 55+ Games, flower gardening and spending time with family and friends. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Donald, her parents Jacob and Freda Geib, brothers Frank, Adam, Otto, Jacob and Ron, and sisters Lena Geib, Emma Hoffert and Mary Bauer, and great-granddaughter Ainsley Klein. She is survived by daughters Donna (Paul) Gauthier of Saskatoon SK, Charlotte (Ron) Klein of Sedley, SK, and son Barry (Debbie) Sullivan of Regina, SK; grandchildren Aaron (Stacey) Klein, Michael (Elise) Gauthier, Leah (Evan) Sullivan, Heather Sullivan, David Gauthier, Andrea (Carl) Schaefer, Aimee (Cory) Hornung, Ryan Sullivan, Amanda (Allan) Currie, Sean (Fawn) Sullivan, and Abby (Derrick) Klein; great-grandchildren Kamyl, Sydney, Liam, Brody, Hayden, Tieran, Benjamin, Adam, Rachel, Alexia, Fallon, Myla and Harper; sisters Teresa Geib, Anne Murphy, Dora Davies, Eileen Geib and brother Zach Geib. A Prayer Service will be held at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W, Moose Jaw, SK on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave, NW, Moose Jaw, SK on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw.
