Shirley Ann George

George, Shirley Anne – 76, Hilden passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2015. Born in Dartmouth, she was the youngest child of the late Robert and Bertha Craig. In her younger days she could be found working Bingo at the Brookfield Sportsplex. As her children became independent she went to work at Signature Collections, as she always had an eye for fashion. In 1995 Shirley went to work for Charm Diamond Center, where she left much of her paycheque behind. She loved her bling! Shirley was an avid bowler for 60 years, belonging to the Brookfield Bowling League and most recently the Senior’s Bowling League in Truro winning many awards. Shirley had many things listed on her “bucket list”, and on her 40th anniversary she went for a helicopter ride over the Chester Basin. She was adventurous and would try anything, like tidal bore rafting, hot air balloon rides, and horseback riding. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert; children, Catherine (John) Worsley, Hilden, Jeffery (Cathy), Bridgewater, Anthony (Rhonda), Brookfield, Patrick (Natalie Pelling), Penticton, BC, Andrew (Paula), Mt. Uniacke, Robert (Sue), Glen Haven; grandchildren, Alexander, Elizabeth, Scott, Emily, Matthew, Bradley, Adam, Darren, Mitchell, Lucas, Amelia, Ian, Ben; five great-grandchildren with one to be arriving soon; brothers, Michael, James (Dollie Ann), both of Dartmouth; sisters, Dorothy George, Helen (Stewart) George, both of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by brothers, Harry, John, Gerald; sisters, Mabel, Mary, Ethel. No visitation by request. A celebratory mass will be held on Friday, May 29 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating.
