Roland "Wayne" Bennett - 70, of Canning, Kings County, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Henry and Myrtle (Pelton) Bennett. A hard worker, Wayne had been employed as a heavy duty mechanic in the bus garage at W. C. Rooney Transportation Ltd., Canning and most recently with Kings Transit. He loved music and spending time with Donna at various jam sessions. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed spending time at Tim Horton's. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and was very fond of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Donna Hatt; a daughter, Kimberly (Warren) Bennett-Cox, St. Albert, Alberta; a son, Kevin (Jana) Bennett, Kentville; their mother, Dianne Rogers, Kentville; a step daughter, Savannah (Joel) Clancey, Pickering, Ontario; a sister, Myrtle (Danny) Thomas, Ontario; two brothers, Harold (Ethel), Hoyt, New Brunswick; Arthur (Sheila), Halifax; a close friend, who was like a son, Darnell Henshaw; seven grandchildren, Justin, Les, Nick, Jordan, Kailey, Shilynn and Rylee; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, George. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Centreville. Burial will take place in the Habitant Cemetery, Kings County.
