Florence June Helm (Sutcliffe nee: Lovett) passed away on May 31, 2015. June was born on a farm in the Nipawin, SK. area, on June 10, 1924. Her parents, Herbert Ray Lovett and Brita Christina Wallin, homesteaded in the Garrick area of Saskatchewan before moving to Saskatoon. Places of residence included Regina and Leader before the family moved to Moose Jaw in 1936. June attended Alexandra School, Oxford Collegiate and Central Collegiate before attending the Angus School of Commerce in Winnipeg. Her employment covered many phases throughout her life from washing dishes at S.S.Kresge's to Deputy Registrar of Land Titles. June was employed with the Provincial Government for 34 years, 27 days, working in the various departments of Social Welfare, Motor License, Hospitalization, Education, and Justice. June retired officially in 1984, but worked as a part-time employee of Land Titles until 1987. In addition to full time employment, June was the Secretary/Treasurer of Lynbrook Golf Club for 21 years, retiring from this job in 1987. Married to Robert Wm. Sutcliffe in 1950, and divorced in 1965. In 1971 June married Albert Helm who passed away in October, 1996. June is survived by her sons, Richard Paul (Susan) Sutcliffe of Calgary, AB; Randall Scott Sutcliffe (friend, Ann Anderson) of Moose Jaw; Robert Ross (Shelly) Sutcliffe of Sherwood Park, AB; and 3 grandchildren: Todd (Kristin) and Chad Sutcliffe of Calgary; and Kirstin (Peter) Bosovich of Sherwood Park, AB; brothers; Herbie Lovett and Gwynne Lovett; many nieces and nephews; and Albert’s children. During her retirement years, June has been active with Friends of the Library, Moose Jaw Camping Club, and Federal Superannuates National Association, and was especially interested in the genealogy of her family, having accumulated volumes of data over the past 35 years or so. Volunteering for Pioneer Lodge, Gift Shop of Union Hospital, canvassing for charities, swimming 5 days a week, having coffee with friends, and working in her yard filled the lifestyle of June for many years. Although flowers have always been a part of June's life, she would appreciate donations to Friends of the Library, c/o Moose Jaw Public Library or to the Charity of your choice. A special thank you to Dr. Hawman and the nurses of the Medical Ward at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. A Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at 11:00 am.
