Passed peacefully away at Agnes Pratt Home on Monday, June 1, 2015, Gordon Franklyn Batten, age 94 years. Predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Maggie Batten, sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Roy Hookey, sister-in-law, Cavell Tetford and brother-in-law, Jim Vokey. Leaving to mourn his wife, Pearl (nee Tetford) and daughter, Donna, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maude and Hubert Yeo, nieces, Sharon Reid, Kathie Shaw, nephews, Leslie, Kenneth, Keith and Paul Hookey, and their families, cousins in Newfoundland, Canada and United States, and other relatives and friends. Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff on the Fairhaven Unit of Agnes Pratt Home. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, June 3, from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm and then at Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach, on Thursday, June 4, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and Friday from 10 am - 12 noon. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5 at 2 pm from St. Mark's Anglican Church, Bareneed. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Bareneed. Flowers gratefully accepted. Donations may be made in Gordon's memory to St. Mark's Anglican Church, Bareneed, Capital Building Fund, St. Thomas Anglican Church, St. John's or Agnes Pratt Home.
