Ernst Perlitz

PERLITZ, Ernst Alfred “Fred”
August 5, 1927 – May 30, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Perlitz announces his passing at the age of 87 years, on Saturday, May 30, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Fred was born on August 5, 1927 in Koerbelitz, Germany to Wilhelm and Anna (Lietzman) Perlitz. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 1 year old with his mother, half-brother and sister to join his father and other half-brother at the homestead in St. Walburg, SK. Fred grew up in the St. Walburg area and left home at the age of 19 years. He worked odd jobs, earning enough money to buy his first truck in 1948; a 1941 International. Fred continued in the trucking industry for the next 67 years hauling cordwood, rails and lumber for Knutsen Brothers for 12 years; Weyerhaeuser for 37 years, and others. He formed Perlitz and Sons Trucking in 1975 with his boys and it continues today. Fred married his loving wife Lillian (nee Nicklen) in 1956. Together they raised seven children: Ernest (Darlene), Linda, John (Connie), Jim, Gordon, Ken and Ilene (Darryl Cantin). Fred worked hard during his lifetime, but always found time to hunt, fish, snowmobile (Polaris all the way), visit with family and friends and spend time at the cabin. Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian; his children; as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; three half-sisters, two half-brothers; his brother William and his beloved granddaughter Amy Perlitz. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly, 1510 Olive Diefenbaker Drive, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Ches Jacobs officiating. Interment will be held in the Garden of Christus at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
