SKELHORN, Edna Frances (Garland), age 100, of Falmouth, formerly of Tonge Hill, Hants Co., died peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Windsor Elms Village, Osprey Landing, where she made her home for the past two years. Born in Windsor, on September 3, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma (Hood) Garland. She lived life to the fullest for a century and always believed you should do as much as you can for as long as you can. She was an amazing seamstress and could be found sewing in her room at the Elms. She was an ambitious homemaker who was noted for baking bread. She loved to go bowling and was still knocking those pins down when she was 95. She was an avid reader and read over 90 large print books since going to the Elms. She enjoyed playing cards and partaking in many events the Elms had to offer. She bragged about her accomplishments in exercise class with Matt and Sherry. Edna is survived by her sister, Marian Garland, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Linda (Horne) Skelhorn, Garlands Crossing; six grandchildren, Kellie (Brian Perry), Halifax; Sean, Eastern Passage; Paula Hewey (Darrell), Dartmouth; Gregory (Tanya), Prospect Bay; Margot, Toronto; and Davan, Dartmouth; seven great grandchildren, Stephen, Jamie, Cody, Matthew, Emma, Caitlyn and Meagan; one great-great grandson, Jamie. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Albert “Had” Skelhorn (1985); sons, Wayne Harold (2006) and David Dennis (2007), as well as sisters, Kaye Smith and Dorothy Nelson; brothers, William, Clarence, Frank, Ralph, and Gerald Garland. There was no visitation or funeral service as per her request. Arrangements were under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. A public graveside service was 2 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, at Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King Street, Windsor. The Rev.
