SMITH: Edna May Smith (Nee: Nerada) age 93 years of Swift Current, SK, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility, Herbert, SK. Edna is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pat Smith, Swift Current, SK. three grandchildren: Tony Smith, Red Cliff, AB, Shelley Smith, Swift Current, SK and Sherry Smith-Sanders (Ron), Calgary, AB. She is also survived by five great grand-children and several nieces & nephews, Edna was predeceased by her parents: Matt and Mary Nerada, her husband Wilfred Smith and her son Edward Smith. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ruth Gould and her brothers: Charlie, Bert, Bob and Bill. Edna May Smith was born to Matt and May Nerada on Oct. 4, 1921 in Cantuar, SK. She married Wilfed Smith on Setember 27, 1941 and they spent their lives in Swift Current, SK. During the early years of marriage, Edna and Wilf worked together at the Elmwood Grocery Store. Edna eventually took a position at the Credit Union and worked there until her retirement. Edna was a long standing member of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed contributing homemade crafts to the organizations many events. Edna loved hockey and was a long time supporter and season ticket holder of the Swift Current Broncos. During the summer months Edna could be found at the Ball Diamond, cheering on the Swift Current Indians. Edna loved to laugh, had a quick wit and was always ready to tell a joke. Her sense of humor always brightened our lives. At Edna's request there will not be a memorial service.
