It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Douglas 'Doug' Young, 31, on June 28, 2015.
Doug was a strong family man, whose outgoing and warm personality touched all that knew him. An avid outdoorsman and athlete, Doug enjoyed sports and activities that involved socializing with his community.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of Edward Young and Darlene Marshall.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Madison Nicholas, Pictou Landing, Hope Jeddore, Maira Paul, and unborn child. Also survived by his partner Nadine Paul; sisters, Mallory Young, Daria Paul and Shelly Stevens; brothers, Michael Young, Edward Rozicki, Sydney, and Daine Paul; godparents, Joyce Madonna Johnson and Vincent Joe; godchildren, Joden Stevens and Ja'ni K Joe; grandmother Mary Tena Young and many aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Walter Young, grandmother Ninnian 'Marie' Marshall and aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held in the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni Holy Family Parish, starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015, and continuing until funeral mass on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Eskasoni Holy Family Church with Fr. Angus MacDougall officiating. Burial will follow after at parish cemetery. Salite to follow at Gabriel Centre.
