Passed in: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: July 3rd, 2015

COOK, Shirley - It is with broken hearts that we, the children of Shirley Cook, announce her passing on July 3, 2015, having lost her battle with breast cancer. Our beloved mother is survived by her three children; Kimberly Dawn (Trenholm) Fiander; Tammy Rae (Trenholm) Stuart; Corey Edwin Trenholm; four grandchildren, Christopher Corey Leblanc, Mason Elliot Leblanc, Tiffany Gayle (Fiander) Dunkley and Job Llewellyn Fiander; three sisters, three brothers and several cousins (which she thought of as brothers). Throughout Shirley's life she volunteered for many organizations such as Yarmouth Literacy Council, Minor Hockey Association, Old Timers Softball League, and Sports Heritage Museum to mention a few. Shirley also earned many Achievement Awards from NSCC Burridge Campus for completing courses such as several computer courses, accounting and career development to name a few. In her younger years she enjoyed team activities such as bowling and also played on the ladies softball team called the "Raiders". She had a passion for love, life and music. She often spoke of spending many hours dancing with her friends at the "Snackerie" in Dayton. Shirley also loved live theatre and acted in several plays at the Y'ARC. Her favorite by far was playing the Wicked Witch of the West in the production "The Wizard of Oz". Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved nothing better than spending time with us all. We've always felt that we have been the most loved children and grandchildren on earth. We all spent countless hours with her at beaches, the Yarmouth Light climbing the rocks or just "tromping" through the woods looking for "forest treasures". We will all keep forever in our hearts and minds, her love, caring and wonderful sense of humor. A memorial service was held July 8, 2015 at the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church. Donations in her memory may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund. This group helped our mother immensely and for this we, her loved ones, will be forever grateful.
