Anne Imelda
(August 20, 1931 - July 24, 2015)
Anne passed away peacefully at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre in St. John's, surrounded by loved ones on July 24, 2015. She was born in Harbour Grace, one of the ten children of William Lawrence and Mary Agnes O'Keefe. Anne grew up next to the ocean in Bears Cove. She was a wonderful and supportive mother, sister and friend. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Francis Kearney, her parents, and five sisters, Marcella O'Keefe, Agnes O'Keefe, Patricia Wight, Loretta Pentzer and Bernadette Bird. Left to mourn are her two sons, Derrick Joseph Kearney, Sean Bernard Kearney and Sean's wife Christine. Anne also leaves to mourn her brother Larry O'Keefe; sisters Isabel Birkeland, Margaret Nolette, and Mary Mondou (husband Marcel); and beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends. Anne was an active and devout member of the church throughout her life. Belonging to the Catholic Women's League of Canada, Anne was a tireless volunteer, a testament to her helpful nature and selfless character. During her life, she continually showed her love of cooking delicious meals, baking tasty treats and transforming small spaces into beautiful gardens. Anne took pride in passing these loves on to others. We are eternally grateful. We would like to thank the palliative care team at the Miller Centre, who helped mom in her final days with both compassion and professionalism. We also thank the spiritual guidance of Father Devas and Father Bolton. At Anne's request, cremation has taken place. She is resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road location, on Tuesday, July 28 from 2 pm - 4 pm and from 7 pm - 9 pm.
