William Forsyth
William Gillespie Forsyth, age 75, of Grande Prairie, Alberta, formerly of Thorburn, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home July 6, 2015.
Born February 8, 1940 in Thorburn, Sonny was the oldest son of the late William and Vivian (Livingstone) Forsyth.
A well-known auto body repairman, Sonny started his career in Hamilton, Ontario, 1964 before returning home to Nova Scotia with his family to start his own auto body shop. After 30 years of business, Sonny moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta to operate his own business until his death.
Sonny was happiest spending time with family and friends. A very social, hard working man, he would often be found in the garage. Sonny enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing and taking a drive to look at scenery. He loved his dog, Fluffy, who he would walk daily up until his illness.
Predeceased by parents William and Vivian (Livingstone) Forsyth, sister-in-law, Corrine Forsyth.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years the former Bonnie (Harrison); sons Billy (Linda) of New Glasgow, Dwayne (Dyanne) of Grande Prairie, AB; daughter Terri-Lynn (Peter) of Prince George, BC; grandchildren: Ryan, Khaila, Shaynea-Lee, MacKenzie and William, one great grandson, Grayson and his faithful dog Fluffy; siblings Priscilla, Georgina (Doug), June (Roy), Tommy (Susan), Timmy (Marion) and April. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at Thorburn Union Presbyterian Church, Friday July 31, 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow in church hall.
