It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of James Alexander MacLean on July 28, 2015, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Christmas Island, he was a son of the late Hector and Betty (Stark) MacLean and is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was known for his ability to use his hands; whether it is wood carving or restoring most anything. He made a career as mechanic, both mechanical and auto body. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. His witty sense of humour always lit up a room. He will be missed by his many friends at the club.
James is survived by sons, Wayne (Darlene), Kevin; daughters, Ann (Gary), Mary, Marie (Craig), Bernadette (Leigh) Derry, Catherine (Charlie); also surviving are 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a child, Sheila in infancy; first wife, Sarah; second wife, Florence; brothers, Wallace and Archie.
Visitation will take place 12 p.m. -2 p.m. Thursday in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will be held following the service at the French Club. (Corner of Ferry & Dolbin St, Sydney).
Memorial donations to the Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
