MCCORMACK
Bernadette
Corner Brook, NL
1949 - 2015
It is with deep regret that the family of Bernadette McCormack announces her passing on August 1, 2015. Bernie will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend Brian, her two cherished daughters, Janice (Gene Coleman), Erin (Ashley Chalmers) and her eight precious grandchildren who were the absolute joy of her life - Clare, Luke, Teresa, Grace and Aidan Coleman and Eoin, Daniel and Jack Chalmers. Bernie lived for her family; they were her life, her legacy. She loved, was loved and will be missed. Bernie was raised in Harbour Grace, the youngest daughter of the large and loving Northcott family. She was predeceased by her father Matthew, mother Sarah, brother Andrew, sisters Loretta (Murray Payne) Beth (Dan Ash), mother-in-law Gertrude McCormack, father-in-law Charles McCormack. Bernie leaves her dear sister: Mary McCarthy (late Mike) and much loved brothers: Joe Northcott (Joan), Jim (Patricia) and Kevin (Doreen), David (Carol Ann). Sister-in-law: Janet Joyce (late Bern). Brothers-in law: Kevin McCormack (Diane), Paul McCormack (Nancy), Peter McCormack (Sandra). Special cousin: Mary Russell, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Bernie's was a life well-lived. She shared an adventurous spirit with Brian. The two of them were avid travelers always seeking new experiences. She was a dedicated teacher who relentlessly sought the very best for her students. But the essence of Bernie was found in her enjoyment of the simple things of life. Friendships were sustained and nurtured, her home warm and welcoming to all. Bernie was a woman of deep faith, a faith which framed her life and brought her immense comfort during difficult times. As we embrace her memory and remember her beautiful smile, her consideration of others and her indomitable courage, we appreciate the depth of our loss. We were truly blessed with her presence in our lives. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Mark's Avenue, on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Bernie's Celebration of Life will take place at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue on Monday, August 3 at 10:30 am with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating and internment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. If desired as an expression of sympathy, a contribution may be made to the ALS Society. To sign the Family Guestbook, you may visit www.fillatre.ca.
