It is with broken hearts and great sadness we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of a dear son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, John MacMullin, on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the eldest son of Doris and the late John MacMullin.
John was employed for many years with DEVCO as an electrician. He was a former member and past chief of the Tower Road Volunteer Fire Dept. and a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church. In his younger years he played Little League baseball and excelled in hockey as he played for the Donkin\Morien high school, but Pickles loved to watch a great game of football and a “friendly” game of Tarabish.
John is survived by his loving family, his mother, Doris; sister, Alice (Steve Murphy); brother, Greg; aunt, Lola Videto; loving niece, Tracey Murphy; nephews, Bryne (Tammy) Murphy and Gregory MacMullin (Lindsay); Uncle John, and he will especially be missed greatly by his grandnieces, Emmah, Rhyan; grandnephews, Kenneth, Jayce, Hunter and Rhyder and many close friends.
Besides his father, John, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald in infancy.
In following John’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations in John’s memory can be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church or charity of one’s choice.
