Bernadette (Bisson) Ingham of Glace Bay passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Lubin and Sophie (Aucoin) Bisson.
Bernadette graduated from Holy Angels High School, Sydney and Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax. She taught elementary education for 33 years. While in the Sisters of Charity, Bernadette taught in Vancouver, B.C., Brooklyn, N.Y. and Dorval, Que. She retired from the Halifax School Board in 1993.
Bernadette is survived by her loving husband, Ed and sister, Rose and was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred, Father Cliff, Melvin, Lubin and Danny and sisters, Marg, Theresa and Betty.
Bernadette will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by an extended family of nieces and nephews and many friends she made throughout her life. She will live in the hearts of many children that she had the pleasure of teaching, a vocation that she loved with all her heart. She and her husband regularly visited the Glace Bay General Hospital to comfort residents and volunteer their services. She was a sincere listener, with an open heart and a warm smile.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, 10 a.m. at St Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. The Rev Leo Boone will be officiating. The interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
