L. Joan McLeod

McLeod, L. Joan – The passing occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2015 of Louise Joan McLeod of Truro, NS. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1923, (she always considered St. John’s as home although she resided there only about 20 years) she was the only daughter of the late William and Louise (Snelgrove) Stevenson. After graduation from Memorial University College she continued on to Mount Allison University, graduating in 1943. It was at Mount A that she met her husband, the late Roland Philip McLeod of St. Martin’s, NB. They moved to Truro in 1947. She was a member of First United Church and a former Sunday School teacher. In 1969 she joined the staff of Truro Junior High School where she enjoyed teaching French and Latin until 1976. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nancy Mumford and three sons, Ted and Doug, Truro and Peter, Wolfville as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her only brother, Dr. L. John Stevenson, Rothesay, NB. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, October 1 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating with reception and visiting to follow. Interment will be at a later date in Watson Cemetery. Thanks to the staff at Williams’ Country Home in Hilden for the care during the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Watson Cemetery.
