Cheryl  Degen

Cheryl Degen nee Webber, 67, of River Philip passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2015.
She was the loving daughter of the late Ralph and Doris (Fage) Webber and the treasured daughter in law of William Degen and the late Helen Degen.
Cheryl was the wife and soul mate of Stephen Degen and the devoted mother to Kimberly (Darryl) Corkery, Barry (Angela) Brownell, Scott (Shelly) Degen and Kimberley (Mark) Matthews. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Kalei Fraser, Kennedy Petten, Madison, Makayla, Will, Ryan and Tyler Degen, Austin and Olivia Brownell and Ian Matthews.
Cheryl was predeceased by her grandson Evan Matthews and her nephew Billy MacKenzie.
Cheryl was the older sister to Janis (Geoffrey) deGannes and Leisa (Keith) Slade and was predeceased by her special sister Donna MacDonald. She was the sister in law of Terry (Carmel) Degen, Shaun Degen (Al Burnard), Ruth (Tom) MacKenzie, Kelly (Alan) Miller and Maureen (Fritz) Krauch and the late Catherine (Peter) Peck. Cheryl leaves behind many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
As a young woman, Cheryl worked at MT&T as a telephone operator and also was employed as a bill processing clerk at Pugsley's Pharmacy in Amherst. Putting family first Cheryl chose to take on the role of a full time homemaker. She was often seen sipping on a hot cup of tea, reading, volunteering in the community and visiting her gal pals at the Salvation Army. She was always up for exciting adventures and fondly recalled her hot air balloon ride and her personal helicopter ride touring her property in Athol. Cheryl also loved spending time with her friends at dancing clubs and at exercise class.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm at A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St, Springhill, N.S (902-597-2361) followed by a reception and time of remembrance at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 17, Elgin Street, Springhill.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
