Winnifred Lucy Parrell (nee Murray)

Born: October 22nd, 1927

Passed on: October 5th, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother Winnie on October 5 at the Glenbrook Lodge with the family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Mike; son Howard; infant daughter Madonna; son-in-law Tom Berger; parents Luke and Catherine Murray; brothers Jack and Fred; sisters Annie and Patricia. Left to mourn are her daughters Carmelita (Tom Berger, deceased), Leona (Richard Squires), Marie (Robert O'Brien) and Beverly (Graeme Steele); sons Richard (Bernice) and Dan (Josephine); daughter-in-law Carol Ann (Howard, deceased); 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Jenny (Bob Dunn), Agnes (Richard Beaulieu) and Clara (Gus Barron, deceased); brothers Peter, Cyril (Maureen Peach); Winnie had many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Winnie was known to many as a caring, giving, honest and funny lady with a story for everything. She was always in the kitchen whipping up a meal or baked goods and welcoming others to enjoy it with her. She was never one to mince words, she said it like she meant it which many appreciated about her and often thought as comical. Always up for practical jokes and enjoyed making others laugh. She was blunt but there was love and genuine concern behind her words. She will be remembered as a hard worker, with a kind heart, a giving soul and a loving matriarch of many. Winnie's antidotes, advice, sayings and one liners will be remembered and will bring smiles to all who knew her for years to come. As per Winnifred's request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. from Caul's Chapel. Following the service, Winnifred will be laid to rest with her family at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Many thanks to Masonic Park for the loving care shown to mom during her short stay. To the Glenbrook Lodge staff, words cannot express our deep gratitude for the loving care, kindness and comfort shown to mom during her final months. Donations in her memory may be made to the Glenbrook Lodge Recreation Department.
