It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Ann Theresa Wood, aged 81, beloved mother, partner, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, in Dartmouth, N.S.
Ann was a warm and gentle soul. She will be deeply missed by family and friends, and fondly remembered as “the lady in red."
Ann was born in North Sydney on Sept. 13, 1934, the daughter of the late John Charles and Mary Ann (Hall) Young.
She is survived by her loving partner, Donald Jessome; her two sons, Earl and Darryl; and her three daughters, Debra (Wayne) McVety, Diane (Gary) Piccott, Kathy Wood (Robert Cirtwell). She is also survived by her siblings, Kevin (Patricia) Young, Harley (Sandra) Young, Pauline Jessome, Marjorie Dixon, Mary Petrossie, Esther (David) Ford and Margaret (Eric) Osselmann; her brother-in-law, George Davis. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Barbara, Heather, Steven, Eric, and Cheryl Wood, Trevor, Michael, Jason and Dana McVety, Ryan and Lucas Piccott and Regan Piccott, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Earl Wood; siblings, Don, Wayne, John and Yvonne, and infant brothers, Earle and Earl; her infant sister, Pauline Mary; and by her brothers-in-law, Byron Jessome and John Petrossie.
Visitation for Ann will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
