Evelyn Hollis

It is with great sadness and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Evelyn Joyce Hollis age 77 of Amherst and formerly of Leicester on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 24, 1938 in Amherst, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Garnet and Hattie (Waugh) MacDonald.
In her younger years, Evelyn worked for Lockharts Nursing Home and later at the Highland View Regional Hospital in the dietary department.
She loved dancing, knitting, playing cards, and sitting by the window in her rocking chair doing jigsaw puzzles.
Evelyn enjoyed the times spent at the beach and cottage, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a faithful long-time member of the Immanuel United Church, Amherst. Evelyn volunteered for many years in the choir, UCW and all other church events.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Joyce (Wendell) Hollis, Amherst and Beatrice Marks, Tidnish; grandchildren, Joanne (Jason) Wall, Oromocto, NB, Cheryl (Ken) Langille, Riverview, NB, Jason Maloney, Amherst, Cindy (Jamie) Matthews and Shauna (Colin) McCallum both of Amherst and Angela (William) Marks, Tidnish; great grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole), Renee, Faith, Jackson, Justin, Chelsey, Brandon, Kolby and Karissa; sisters, Lillian Wessell, and Leota Murphy both of Amherst; brother, David (Elli) MacDonald, Amherst; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her first husband, Sandford Jackson; second husband, Joseph Hollis; son in law, Paul Marks; grandson, Dwayne Maloney; sisters, Annie Hunter and Muriel MacDonald; brothers, Laurie (Buddy) and Gerald.
Her remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902-667-9906) with visiting hours on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 p.m. until funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place in the Leicester Cemetery.
In lieu floral tributes, memorial contributions in Evelyn’s memory may be made to the Leicester Cemetery, Immanuel United Church, or a local Health Care charity.
