It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Adie McIntyre, age 62, on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at his residence.
Born in Glace Bay, Adie was the son of Margaret ‘Margie’ (Pickup) LeBlanc and the late Peter McIntyre.
In his younger years, Adie was employed at the Heavy Water Plant and he also sold cars. He later became a self-employed businessman, owning and operating Adie’s Dairy & Take Out and most recently, Caledonia Pizza on Brookside Street. Adie had many hobbies, some of which included playing the drums, running, walking, collecting cars, doing yard work, playing broom ball, baseball (he was a pitcher), owning his own ball team called ‘ Adie’s Dairy & Take Out’ and watching his two favourite Toronto teams, the Blue Jays and the Leafs. Adie was a kind and generous man; known for his great sense of humour.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Sherri (Budden) McIntyre; his daughter, Melanie (Jason) Churney; his son, Peter (Sheri); four sisters, Bernice (Brian), Margaret ‘Bay’, Karen ‘Pudgy’, Marlaine (John); brother, Tommy, all of Glace Bay; his stepfather, Doug LeBlanc; and several nieces and nephews. Adie will also be missed by his walking companion, his dog, Molly.
Besides his father, Adie was predeceased by his brother, Peter, also known as ‘Mick the Barber’ McIntyre.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Donald MacDonald is Saturday, 2 p.m. in Newsom United Church, followed by a reception in the church hall.
As an expression of sympathy for Adie, donations may be made to the SPCA, as he loved animals or a charity of one’s choice.
