Seamus Curran

CURRAN, SEAMUS
1939 - 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of Seamus Christopher Curran announces his passing on Friday, October 2, 2015. Seamus, also known as “Shay” and “Shazzer”, passed away at his Halifax home at the age of 76 years.
Seamus will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Amy Harnish (Curran) and son-in-law, Jared Harnish of Ontario, his brother, Peter Curran, of Ireland and his former wife, Donna Blewett of New Brunswick. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret, and father, Peter, along with five brothers: Sean, Noel, David, Christopher, Amon and one sister, Kathleen.
A native of Dublin, Ireland, Seamus immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1972 where he entertained thousands of people as a member of the then popular Irish showband, The Dublin Corporation. In addition to singing, playing trombone, flute and piano, he wrote the music parts for all the other band instruments. His travels happily took him to several large centres and universities in North America and abroad some of which included Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Ontario, Manitoba, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. Among many things, Seamus will always be remembered for his contagious laugh, Irish wit and storytelling.
A celebration of Seamus’ life will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd, Halifax on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00am with retired minister David Watt presiding.
Memorial donations in Seamus’ memory may be made to The Salvation Army.
