SYLVESTER – Matthew Berton MacLaughlin, 40, Sylvester, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at home due to a heart illness.
Matthew was the son of Berton and Dianna (Carpenter) MacLaughlin.
He was the owner-operator of Sawtech in Sylvester. When Matt wasn’t working, he loved spending time at Sunset Watch Campground in Brule where he was affectionately nicknamed Ponch. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to his campground family and enjoyed his time there with his special friends Darryl and Judy Grimm, along with many others. Matt enjoyed travelling and he and his wife Tracey went on several cruises to the Caribbean. Matt also enjoyed his “man-time” at the garage with Tracy Sharpe and Charlie Yorke. Matt loved animals, especially his fur baby Kaylee.
Besides his parents, Matt is survived by his wife of 16 years Tracey Frazee; step-children Brandon and Courtney Frazee; parent-in-laws Ruth and Wayne Frazee, Trenton; sister Tracy MacLaughlin, Halifax; special uncle Elmer MacLaughlin, New Glasgow, along with many other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.  
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Marie and Graham Publicover and Ren Carpenter and paternal grandmother Bertha Crowtz.
There will be no visitation or service at the request of the deceased. A private committal service with family and close friends will be held at Lourdes Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Charles McPherson, at a later date.
