Roger LeBlanc

LeBlanc, Roger- with his loving wife and five daughters by his side, passed away October 7, 2015 in the Colchester East Hants Heath Centre, Truro at the age of 83, just four days before his 84th birthday.

Born October 11, 1931 in Moncton, N.B., he was the son of the late William and Lucy LeBlanc. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris (Frizzell) daughters; Margaret Ann (Bobby) Baldwin of Sydney, Sheila (Andy) Campbell of Bible Hill, Jane (Doug) Landsberg of Bible Hill, Cathy (Rod) Himour of Edmonton, Dawn (Owen) Scott of Edmonton. Ten Grandchildren; Tammy, Robby and Roger Baldwin, Andrew and Shaun Campbell, Heather and Brian Landsberg, Michelle Himour, Matthew and Kaitlin Scott. Twelve Great grandchildren. Brother; Gerald (Joan) of Ontario. Sisters; Doris Mazurek of New Mexico, Jacqueline (Jack) Swift of Valley, Patsy (Joe) Toole of Brentwood.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Ivan, Laurie, Rene and Raymond. Sister; Lorraine and two siblings in infancy.

Roger worked for CNR in Truro and Sydney for 33 years. He was one of the founding members of the South Bar Volunteer Fire Department in Cape Breton. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a true man of the forest, where he found peace and tranquility.

He enjoyed his daily stop at the coffee shop on the way to the Camp in Kemptown with his friend. He also treasured his time spent with his hunting and fishing buddies. He was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan and we know that he will be rooting for them in the World Series. Roger was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Truro. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, who went above and beyond for Roger and our family. A special appreciation to Cory Lunn, Funeral Director at Colchester Community Funeral Home for his assistance and guidance during this time.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 12th at 3pm in Bible Hill Cemetery, Warren Dr., Bible Hill, with Father Jim O’Connor, officiating. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow in the Royal Canadian Legion, Brunswick St., Truro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or the Bible Hill Cemetery Corporation.
