SPICER, Barry Donald – age 87, Welsford, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on November 16, 1927 at the family home in Welsford, he was a son of the late Floyd R. and Bessie S. (Pineo) Spicer. Barry had worked for many years at M.W. Graves Ltd. and Cobi Foods, Berwick, as a Crop Field Specialist. He was a long-time member of the Berwick United Church, serving as an elder, treasurer and on various committees. Barry enjoyed curling, golfing and time spent at wood working in the craft shop. He was a member of the Annapolis Valley Cruisers Car Club. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years Margaret H. (Zwicker) Spicer; children, Brian, Welsford; Bradley (Susan), Berwick; Beverly (Suzanne), Somerset; Sheila (Rob) Church, Medicine Hat, Alta.; Gary (Corrine), Grafton; Holly (Jim) Morrison, Berwick; Kevin (Rose), Somerset; grandchildren, Lissa, Jennifer, Cameron, Cody, Dylan, Logan, Colten, Shawn, Cole, Sarah, Matthew and Kathryn; six great-grandchildren; nieces, Mary Kaizer, Evelyn Hawbolt, Marilyn Mills; nephews, James Cahill, Greg, Allyn and Mark Spicer. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Ruby (Warren) Cahill; brother, Maurice (Mabel); niece, Carolyn Young. There will be no visitation. Funeral service and reception will take place 2 p.m., Saturday, November 14, in the Berwick United Church, 240 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Tom Woods and Rev. Ivan Norton officiating, with Interment in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Berwick United Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to Evelyn & Ernie Hawbolt for the many consistent visits and tasty treats and to daughter-in-law, Suzanne Spicer for her many comforting visits and help.
