AREY, Everett Elroy, 89, Upper Port La Tour, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born in 1926, Slatetown, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Walter and Stella (Purdy) Arey. Everett will be dearly missed by his loving devoted wife of 69 years, Ethel; son, Eugene (Mary) Arey; son-in-law, Dale Smith; grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Smith, Leona (Scott) Blagdon, Rickey (Joleen); step-grandchildren, Michelle Ryer, Denise Cotter, Michael Williams; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur, Charles, Gorden, Ernest; daughter, Marg Smith; grandson, Daryl Smith. Everett was a WWII veteran. He had many work ventures in his lifetime; bus driver, car salesman, construction business, service station, and fish business. After retiring from fish firm he attended The School of Auctioneering in Woodstock, Ontario and enjoyed many years of auctioneering. He was a member of the Lunenburg fiddlers and enjoyed many years of music and square dancing. He was also a member of the IOOF Clyde Lodge and a member of the Greenhill Seniors. Everett loved his family and touched many lives in his community. The family would like to thank the VON, because of their support he was able to remain happily in his home. A special thank you for the great care from Dr. David Wilson. Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation from 7-9 p.m., Monday, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The Memorial Service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, at the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Brenda McCurdy officiating. Interment to take place in the Upper Port La Tour Cemetery at a later date. It has been requested there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
