Blair Elmer Hutt

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather at the age of 60 on Nov. 20, 2015, in Halifax at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site. Born in P.E.I., he was a son of Blanche (Hamill) and the late Kenneth Hutt. Blair spent four decades as an auto mechanic, and was known to put his skilled hands to anything that needed repair. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved to run the roads “from one coffee stop to the next” alongside his son and daughter, as well as whoever wished to join them. Children were a big part of his life and his heart always went out to sick children. Whether or not he knew them made little difference. Blair is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, the former Sandra Pridham; son, Jason (Laurie) Hutt, Sydney; daughter, Jerilyn (James) Eddy, Sydney Forks; grandchildren, Jansen, Jailyn, Joel, Jeremy and Jessica; sisters, Brenda (Lennie) O’Meara; Marlene (Johnny) Arsenault; Karla (Jimmy) Fraser; brother, Blaine (Shirley), all of P.E.I. Also, mother-in-law, Marion Pridham; brother-in-law, Aubrey (Lynn) Pridham; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (John) Campbell and Caroline (Craig) Edgar. And his beloved Boston terrier “Harley”. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Gwendolyn in infancy; grandparents, Elmer and Grace Hamill and Ainsley and Lottie Hutt. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. A celebration of Blair’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment will follow in Alfred E. Smith Cemetery, Howie Centre. Memorial donations to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or the IWK Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
