Stellarton: Clyde William Sutherland, age 95 of Belmont Ave, Stellarton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Neil and Stella (Stewart) Sutherland.
Clyde was a long time resident of Stellarton.
During his working life, Clyde worked as an electrician.
He was a veteran of WWII, and was a member of Br.#28 Royal Canadian Legion, Stellarton.
Clyde received the year of the veteran award in 2005.
He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church.
Clyde was treasurer of the Trenton Seniors Festival.
He also received volunteer awards from the Town of Trenton and the Town of Stellarton.
Surviving are son Paul (Caroline Duncan) of Stellarton; Daughter Colette (Fred) Forbes of Little Harbour; Son Charles (Karen MacLean) of Ottawa; Six grandchildren: Colin(Shelly) Sutherland of Halifax; Suzanne (Tyler) Inch of Ontario; Kenda (Steven) MacKenzie of Halifax; Paula (Thane) Hansen of Stratford, PEI; Yvonne (Chuck) MacDonald of Antigonish; Nicolas (Caroline Vanasse) Sutherland of Ottawa; 17 great grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.
Clyde was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Wish (MacKenzie); Brothers Robert (Annie); Gordon (Chris); Twin sister Mary (Thomas) Chennell; Several brother-in-laws and sisters–in-law.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
A reception will follow the service in the Sister Catherine Steele Centre
Donations in memory of Clyde may be made to a charity of one’s choice or share an act of kindness in memory of Clyde.
