NEW GLASGOW - Robert “Bob” MacMillan, age 75, of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 6, 1940 in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James and Olive (Sprague) MacMillan.
He was retired from the New Glasgow Police Department which he served for 34 years.
He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34, New Glasgow and also a member of the Elks Club. Bob enjoyed socializing with people and telling jokes, especially his buddies at the A and W.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Rita MacMillan (Landry); daughters: Bernadette (Claude) Moreau, New Brunswick; Mary Al-Mansoob, Halifax; precious grandchildren: Ethan and Layla; step grandchildren: Alex and Melanie; sister, Colleen Worlidge, Calgary; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Robbie; sister, Sally Roberts; nephew, Scott; mother and father-in-law, Bernadette and Hubert Landry.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
Funeral mass 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, St. John’s Parish, New Glasgow.
