It is with deep sadness the family of George Thomas Bungay announces his passing on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born April 24, 1922 in North Sydney, C.B., he was the son of the late George and Jane (Dicks) Bungay.
George was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines.
His greatest love was his family and second was his years on his fishing boats. Most remembered for his famous fishing stories, his kind kind heart and love of music. Neighborhood kids would call him their Poppy as he served the best ice cream in Alder Point.
George is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ada Bungay (Roberts); daughters, Jane(Cyprian) LeBlanc, Georgena (Wilfred) Jessome, Ann (Gary) Spencer and sons, Robert (Colleen) Bungay, Art (Yasuyo) Bungay; brother Reginald (Maggie) and sisters, Mary and Joyce. He was deeply loved by his grandchildren, Michael Jessome, Roger LeBlanc, Lora Lee Jessome, Suzanne LeBlanc, Adam LeBlanc, Stacy Bungay, Devon and Mandy Spencer and Kai Bungay. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and his lifelong friend Jimmy Broderick.
He was predeceased by sisters, Sue Pero, Vera Riggs, Sadie Roland, Cavelle Bungay, brothers, Kreighton, Murray, William, Clyde and Leo Bungay and grandchildren, Melaney, Nicole, and Wilfred.
The family would like thank friends and family for their love and support and special thanks to the extraordinary staff of Northside Guest Home for their kindness to our Dad over the last several years especially in his final days.
There will be no vitiation, A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. The burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Tobin Road ,Sydney Mines. A reception will be held in Grandy Hall after the service.
Memorial donations in George’s memory can be made to Alzheimer society or Northside Community Guest Home.
