It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Marguerite Elaine McSween, 65, of New Waterford on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of Effie (MacMillan) and the late Edward 'Ned' Nugent.
Marguerite was employed with the Cape Breton Residential Society for the past several years and truly enjoyed this work. She dearly loved family, namely her precious grandchildren. She felt that being a Nana was her greatest achievement. Her many nieces and nephews were also very important to her and she was always generous with her love and time. Aunt Mimi will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, George Conrad McSween; daughter, Nadine (Sheldon) Ratchford; son, Craig (Tanya) McSween, all of New Waterford; brother, Dan (Thelma) Nugent, St. John's, Nfld; sisters, Leona Nugent, New Waterford, Sharon Nugent, New Waterford/Toronto, Roseanne (Donnie) Manzini, Burlington, Ont., Ellen (George) Sinclair, Cambridge, Ont.; grandchildren, Dylan, Nathan, Parker, Joshua, Abby; father-in-law, George D. McSween; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Marguerite was predeceased by a brother, Michael and mother-in-law, Rose McSween.
Cremation has taken place. Vistation will be held Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
