HANLEY, Clarence Bennett - It is with great sadness that we, the family of Clarence Bennett Hanley of Yarmouth and formerly of East Kemptville, announce his passing on April 19, 2016, at the age of 90, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by Grace, his loving wife and his family. Born in Buckfield, Queens County on June 8, 1925 he was a son of the late James and Hilda (Fancy) Hanley. Clarence was a farmer and logger all his life. He moved his family to East Kemptville in 1968 to work in the woods. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 167, Carleton, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61, Yarmouth and the Department of Agriculture. Clarence was a very kind, generous, soft spoken man who was blessed with patience. He had a soft spot for his grand and great grandchildren whom he adored. A country boy at heart he truly enjoyed showing his cattle and going to horse pulls at various exhibitions in the area. Clarence and Grace enjoyed having company and the house was often full of laughter. Clarence leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Grace (Joudrey) Hanley; son, David (Joanne); daughters, Carolyn (Mackie) Freeman, Yvonne (Harold) Crowell, Linda (Bruce) Gates, all of East Kemptville and Judy (Graham) d'Eon of Middle West Pubnico; brothers, Paul (Bev), James "Junior" (Rita); sister, Mildred Zwicker; grandchildren, Lisa (Allan), Mitchell (Susan), Vickie (Jonathon), Shawnda (Anthony), Richard (Tina), Tanya (Marc), Melanie (Brian), Ian, Kimberly (Chris), Samantha (Mark), 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter due in May. He was predeceased by brothers, Lester, Basil, Raymond, Everett and Borden as well as a grandson Andrew in infancy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There was a family viewing only on Friday from 1-2 pm in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. A graveside service was held Friday at 3 pm in East Kemptville, Pastor Rick Warner officiated. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
